Indoor sowing: start 5 - 7 weeks prior to last frost. First store in fridge for 30 days prior to planting to "cold stratify".

Direct sow: Due to cold stratification needs, the seeds need to be sowed outside in the fall and left to germinate in the spring, or in spring as soon as soil can be worked. Mark your spot so that you don't forget where they are ;) They can also be winter sown in milk jugs in late winter (at least 2 months before last frost).
