Collection: Cosmo Seeds

Cosmos are easy to grow from seed and reward gardeners with months of color and charm. These cheerful annuals bring a soft, airy look to gardens with their daisy-like flowers and feathery foliage. Blooming from mid-summer until frost, cosmos come in shades ranging from pure white and blush pink to deep magenta and sunny orange. Their tall, graceful stems sway beautifully in the breeze, making them a favorite for cottage gardens, borders, and cut flower arrangements. Cosmos are drought-tolerant, low-maintenance, and attract bees, butterflies, and pollinators — perfect for any sunny Canadian garden.

How do I grow Cosmos from seed?

In order to grow Cosmos from seed, you need to sow seeds directly outdoors after the last frost or start them indoors 4–6 weeks earlier. Choose a sunny spot with well-drained soil and scatter the seeds lightly on the surface, covering them with just a thin layer of soil. Keep the soil evenly moist until seedlings emerge, then thin them to about 12–18 inches apart. Cosmos thrive in poor to average soil, and too much fertilizer can reduce flowering. Deadhead spent blooms to encourage continuous color and taller growth throughout the season.
