Borettana onion seeds are an heirloom variety (will create your own seeds in the future). Borettana onions are a smaller yellow storage onion with a unique flat top and flatter shape (not as round as other types).

Harvest the onions when the bulbs have reached their desired size and the tops have started to yellow and fall over.

Planting Instructions:

- Plant onion seeds outdoors in early spring or indoors in late winter and early spring, and transplant 2-4 weeks after the last frost date. Scallions can be direct sown every 3 weeks from two weeks after the last frost date to late summer.
- Sow the seeds 1/4 inch (6 mm) deep in well-draining soil enriched with compost or organic matter. If planting indoors, sow seeds densely, as they can easily be separating when planting outside later. - Trim the onions to 1.5 inches from the base once they have reached about 4 inches high. This encourages stronger, bigger roots. - Space the seeds or seedlings about 4-6 inches (10-15 cm) apart in rows that are 12-18 inches (30-45 cm) apart. - Seeds should germinate within 7-14 days. - As the onions grow, thin them to the final spacing recommended for mature bulbs, typically 4-6 inches (10-15 cm) apart. - Cure onions for storage up to 5 months
