Morning Glory Vine (Ipomoea tricolor) is a popular climbing vine known for its stunning trumpet-shaped flowers that typically bloom in the morning, hence the name.
The vine will produce its characteristic vibrant, funnel-shaped flowers throughout the summer.
Planting Instructions:
- Plant Morning Glory Vine seeds outdoors after the last frost date in your area, usually in the spring.
- Alternatively, you can start seeds indoors 4-6 weeks before the last expected frost and transplant them once they have several true leaves, but they often do best when directly sown outdoors.
- Sow the seeds 1/4 inch (6 mm) deep in well-draining soil.
- Space the seeds or seedlings about 6-12 inches (15-30 cm) apart at the base of a suitable support structure like a trellis or fence.
- Morning Glory Vines can reach impressive heights of 6 to 10 feet (1.8 to 3 meters) or more.
- Seeds typically germinate within 5-10 days.
Toxicity: it's important to note that some parts of the Morning Glory plant can be toxic if ingested.
