• Indoors (preferred): after stratifying seeds in the fridge, 12–16 weeks before last frost (e.g., December–February for first-year fruit), sow thinly on damp seed starting mix trays—do not cover, as light aids germination. Maintain moisture and a temperature of 18–24 °C (65–75 °F) under fluorescent lights. Heat mat recommended.
• Sowing outdoors: After stratification, sow thinly outdoors post-last frost, spacing 25–36 cm (10–14 in); keep soil moist. No fruit in year 1 if sowing directly outdoors.
