Purple Coneflower Seeds (25+)
A garden classic favourite, Purple Coneflower blooms mid summer to frost and is a low maintenance, more drought tolerant perennial that is native to Canada and Eastern North America. The flowers attract pollinators and butterflies and it has medicinal properties.
In the winter, the spent Echinacea flowers provide winter interest and seeds for the birds to enjoy.
Zone: 3 - 8
Height: 2- 4 feet tall
Sun: Ideally Full Sun, but Part Sun can be tolerated
Seed Depth: 1/8" deep
Germination: 3 - 4 weeks germination, patience is key!
Growing instructions: there are many ways to grow them. For blooms in year one, start them indoors:
- Indoors: seeds must be cold stratified for 2 weeks and then started indoors 10 - 12 weeks before the last frost.
- Fall: after a killing frost but before the ground freezes (for spring germination)
- Winter: You can also try winter sowing them in milk jugs.
- Spring: 2 weeks before last frost
