Foxgloves - Purple

These tall, elegant beauties feature tubular, nodding blooms, often speckled, that cascade on sturdy spires reaching up to 2m (6'). Perfect for borders, woodlands, or areas where they can freely self-sow, foxgloves bring charm from late spring to summer. Many may even rebloom at the tops of their stems in late summer or fall.  

Start Digitalis seeds indoors in late winter for first-year blooms, then transplant them to the back of the border to naturalize. Thriving in moist, shady spots, they’ll also tolerate full sun with regular watering. To prevent self-sowing, cut back the flower stalks as soon as they’ve finished blooming—each plant produces thousands of tiny seeds!  

Important: All parts of the foxglove plant are poisonous.

Growing instructions:
- Indoors: 6-8 weeks before the last frost date. Start seeds in trays or pots with a well-draining seed-starting mix. Press seeds lightly into the soil surface; do not cover, as they need light to germinate.
- Outdoors: Direct sow as soon as soil can be worked.
