Growing Instructions

Sow directly outdoors in early spring once the soil can be worked, or start indoors (recommended) 3–4 weeks before the last frost. Press seeds lightly into soil, as they need some darkness to germinate. Transplant or thin to 8–12 in (20–30 cm) apart. Prefers well-drained, average soil and moderate watering. Deadhead spent flowers to prolong blooming. In cooler Canadian zones, a fall sowing may produce early spring blooms. Self-seeds readily if left to mature.
