White Prickly Poppy Seeds – Argemone platyceras

Also known as Cream Cups, this striking wildflower brings a bold, prairie-style beauty to the garden. Papery white blooms with sunny yellow centres sit atop silvery, thistle-like foliage—like poppies with attitude!

A favourite of pollinators and wildflower lovers, Prickly Poppy adds drama and texture to borders, xeriscapes, and naturalized areas.

Plants are drought-tolerant and tough as nails once established, but their spiky leaves and stems are best admired from a distance—handle with gloves!

Prickly Poppy (Argemone platyceras) is native to northern Mexico and the southern Great Plains of the United States, particularly Texas, New Mexico, and parts of Arizona. It thrives in dry, open areas such as roadsides, grasslands, and desert edges.

This tough wildflower is well-adapted to hot, arid climates and poor soils, making it an excellent choice for low-maintenance or drought-tolerant gardens.

Note: All parts of the plant are toxic if ingested—best kept away from curious kids and pets.
